For generations, the most common form of mobile giving was the donation basket at church, a checkout counter, or in front of your favorite store around the holidays. It made perfect sense – ask the public to donate a dollar or drop in their spare change while you have a moment of their attention in front of their peers. Beyond that, there really wasn’t much else. Clearly the world has changed, and the way people live and give has evolved into a much more diverse field of opportunity for fundraisers. There’s an interesting underlying truth that hasn’t changed, though: Effective fundraisers are the ones who make it easy to donate at the moment a constituent is ready to give. At a fundraising event, in the end-of-year email campaign, or during a crisis campaign, the fewer barriers there are for a constituent to be able to act on their desire to help your cause the more revenue you will earn.

The more you hang out with Salesforce people, the more you notice how much pride they show when telling how many times they’ve been to Dreamforce. There’s good reason for this, too– it’s a wild, magical, and overwhelming ball of surging energy that takes a focused effort to make the most of. The ones who have gone multiple times are starting to work out the secret steps that get them through, but the newbies often struggle in the first day. I know I did.

Over 1,600 attendees from across the country attended the 2015 Bridge Conference in Washington, D.C. this July. The event had more than 77 sessions featuring integrated marketing and fundraising experts from around the country.
Heller Consulting’s Vice President of Digital Agency, Jenn Smith, had two sessions this year. In the first, she spoke with client Doris Day Animal League on building a strong digital fundraising program starting with only a handful of prospects. For the next, Heller invited the Canadian Cancer Society of Saskatchewan to discuss going beyond conversion to create a better experience for donors.

Summer is in full swing and March 2016 seems like the distant future, but we’re already thinking about the 2016 Nonprofit Technology Conference! This year, 16NTC will be taking place in sunny San Jose, California, and Heller is excited to have four submissions in the running for sessions at the conference. There are hundreds of sessions submitted, so we need your votes to make sure ours rise to the top. Voting on these sessions ends in three weeks, so please vote for Heller’s four sessions by July 31st at Midnight.

After a recent project with ASPCA, the Heller team received one of the most unique perks that we’ve had in a while. To thank us for our hard work, ASPCA named some of the most recent felines after the project team. Not only are they adorable, but they’re clearly resourceful and skilled with computers! We know these clever kitties will find a forever home very soon.
The 10th annual Bridge Conference in Washington, DC was a feast of knowledge again! Every year this event brings together the best integrated marketing and fundraising experts from around the country and this year Heller Consulting was asked to present two sessions on improving digital fundraising and planning for conversion-focused constituent engagement. Both sessions were packed with information that can advance any nonprofits’ fundraising efforts:
