List and Database Census Spreadsheet
Do you struggle with information “silos” that hold overlapping information but don’t connect? Want to solve that problem? The first step is to create a list of your organization’s systems so you get a big-picture perspective. Use this List and Database Census Spreadsheet to record key information about each of your information silos. We’ve provided columns for a half-dozen systems; just add more columns if needed. Don’t feel compelled to answer every question for every system, but do answer as many as you can. It might require research and conversation with colleagues, and that very effort may show you a path forward.

Smita Vadakekalam, PMP
VP of Professional Services
In 1998 Smita starting work on the front-line of the nonprofit sector helping organizations with fundraising, technology strategy, and operations streamlining. Since then she has worked with hundreds of nonprofits implementing strong business practices, technology and change management strategies to make their work more efficient and effective. Smita has played several roles at Heller, from Consultant, Senior Consultant, Project Manager to her current role as VP of Professional Services. As Heller’s Vice President of Professional Services, Smita helps develop and refine new and existing services that further the nonprofit sector and Heller’s strategic vision. Smita enjoys speaking at conferences and writing about change management in the nonprofit sector. She earned a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from George Washington University and a master’s degree in Philanthropic Studies from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy – Indiana University Center on Philanthropy, where she now serves on the Alumni Board. She is a committee member of the Association of Change Management Professionals, a Prosci-certified Change Practitioner, and has a Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute. Outside of Heller, Smita enjoys spending time with her family, running, and volunteering by serving on the diversity committee of local NYC public schools to help address the major education inequity gap at NYC public schools.
Rali has been working with nonprofits for over 10 years. Before Heller, she wore many hats managing volunteers, development & fundraising, strategic planning, Salesforce systems, and more. This diverse combination of experience gives Rali in-depth insights for her role at Heller. Her understanding of how the challenges nonprofits face interlace through individual departments allows her to define solutions that improve efficiency and make an impact on an organization’s mission and goals. In addition to being a Salesforce-certified Administrator and Prosci-certified Change Practitioner, Rali holds a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in International Politics and French & Francophone Studies from Pennsylvania State University. Outside of her professional life, Rali enjoys testing out recipes, hiking, and doubles volleyball games.
Michael Spite, CAPM
Prior to joining Heller in 2010, Michael worked in a range of support and analytical roles for nonprofit and financial consulting firms. He is adept at assembling a wide range of project metrics to assist team managers in the planning, monitoring, and execution of project tasks across multiple project timelines. He also conducts analysis, reviews forecasting, and establishes benchmarks to monitor the overall state of Heller’s project portfolio for ongoing strategic operational and planning purposes. Michael is CAPM certified from the Project Management Institute and earned a bachelor’s degree in Classical Guitar Performance from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. He has also completed a post-undergraduate certificate program from the Stern School of Business at NYU. Outside of Heller Michael enjoys sailing, painting, learning new music, and spending time with his wife and four-legged kids.
Maya comes to Heller from the Bureau of Jewish Education of San Francisco after working for a local community nonprofit and a computer hardware and software reseller firm catering to Fortune 500 clients. She manages all aspects of the firm’s business operations, including financial, human resources and technology infrastructure. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from University of California, Berkeley. When not working on all things Heller, she enjoys exploring epicurean and cultural wonders of the world with her family.
Senior Data Migrations Analyst
Marcelo came to Heller in 2005 from the staff of Metropolitan State University Foundation in St. Paul, MN with extensive experience in university advancement services and a reputation for innovation and technical skill. At Heller, he helps clients transition from many legacy systems to the advanced data structures of modern CRM solutions. Clients he has worked with include Livestrong Foundation, National Brain Tumor Society, Northwestern Memorial Foundation, Sutter Health, The ASPCA, Feeding America, and many others. He has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems and is a Salesforce-certified Administrator. He is constantly learning and utilizing additional tools like SQL Server Database Administration and Salesforce Object Oriented Programming. Marcelo is a fitness freak and a commercial aviation aficionado. Outside of Heller, Marcelo spends time with his four King Charles Cavalier Spaniels: Ashley, Miley, Chloey, and Bailey. He loves learning languages, runs his own Airbnb business, and enjoys helping his husband Mark Keppy with real estate open houses.
