At Dreamforce 2017, The Chicago Council on Global Affairs’ Database Services Officer Sara Darga presented with Keith Heller on how to strategically manage change during a technology project. Sara shared some of the tools and techniques that make up a comprehensive Change Management Success Framework and Keith outlined a few of the red flags that indicate a project might be in jeopardy. In this session they show how The Council’s combination of an effective change management plan and real-time monitoring was instrumental in helping them achieve extremely high user adoption of their system, allowing them to provide a more effective forum for world leaders, policymakers, and other experts to speak on global issues.
The Council brings together a wide array of participants from diverse communities. Together they provide an opportunity for influential voices to facilitate dialogue and discuss issues, ideas, and topics relevant to the global landscape and major world events. Over the years, managing their various members, membership groups, programs, and events has become a more complex challenge. Delivering targeted communications to these various groups was taking a substantial amount of the staff’s time to administer. They needed a system to match The Council’s expanded programs and services. They chose the Salesforce Platform to manage over 200 events a year, membership, event, email marketing, social media engagement, grant seeking, and donor/constituent portal management needs. It would be a challenge to make this sweeping change, but they knew that it would transform the organization into a more effective and efficient team.
In this Dreamforce session, Sara and Keith step through the various strategies The Council used to establish support, build awareness, provide knowledge and training, and reinforce positive behavior to successfully migrate their community to the new system. Watch the session below or view the slides to learn more about these strategies, and how they can help your organization.
