Wow, what an honor. Truly. Heller Consulting has recently been named a 2014 B-Corporation Best for the World list for Workers Impact company. Officially, Heller became a B-Corporation in 2008, although we have been following sustainable practices since our start in 1996. This year though, we ranked in the top 10% of all B Corporations of our size for our practices with our team. If you haven’t seen the list, you should check it out here. It’s list of peers were very proud to be part of.
What exactly does it mean to have a highly ranked “workers impact”? It means keeping a team connected even though they may have hundreds of miles between them. It means recognizing the hard work and effort of our staff on a regular basis. It means maintaining a sustainable work-life balance through ample vacation time and excellent benefits, and making sure people get a chance to use them. It means building a strong team that savors the challenge to create lasting solutions for your clients and your organization.
Our small but mighty group of 35+ is spread out over 10 different states around the country, with many of our employees working remotely. While it may seem like an uphill battle against isolation and communication snafus, we’ve taken it as a challenge to tackle together. We make the time and effort to effectively communicate across projects and departments, and make sure that it works both personally and professionally. When we do get together for on-site projects or our annual retreat, it’s not a room of strangers. We’re long-time friends connecting again. It’s been working for over 18 years, so we’re sticking with it.
When you’re in the ever-changing field of technology, “work-life balance” can start to feel like “work and what life?” At Heller we have one of the hardest working teams around doing incredible work for important causes, and we know they are our greatest asset. They deserve the best we can offer and more. As a company it’s wonderful to be recognized with this award, and we are honored. But it’s even better to be able to bring an amazingly talented group of people together to solve real-world problems, and to be able to reward them for it. We thank all our staff for their skill, drive, and passion, and look forward to our future together.
