Agentforce for Nonprofits Implementation
The Sustainable Cities Fund is a national philanthropic organization focused on advancing equitable, climate‑forward solutions in cities across the United States. Through re‑granting and strategic investments, SCF supports local partners working at the intersection of sustainability, infrastructure, and community impact. To do this effectively, the Fund must manage complex grantmaking programs, multifaceted constituent relationships, and outcomes data across cities and initiatives.
As the Fund’s programs expanded, its technology needed to do more than store data—it needed to support how grantmaking actually works.
The Sustainable Cities Fund‘s work spans multiple programs, cities, and partner organizations, each with different reporting requirements, timelines, and relationships.
Off‑the‑shelf grantmaking tools could not support:
Without a system designed for this level of complexity, staff relied on manual processes and workarounds that limited visibility and slowed decision‑making. SCF needed a modern CRM that could scale with its mission—without sacrificing usability or governance.
The Fund partnered with Heller Consulting to implement Agentforce for Nonprofits (formerly Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud) for Grantmaking and Program Management, with a focus on sustainability, flexibility, and long‑term value.
Heller worked closely with SCF to understand grantmaking workflows, constituent relationships, and reporting needs—prioritizing standard platform capabilities wherever possible and applying customization only where it clearly supported outcomes.
Using a hybrid agile approach, Heller organized work into themed sprints aligned to SCF priorities. The first phase focused on the most critical capabilities, enabling staff to begin using the system quickly while laying a foundation for future expansion.
The initial implementation included Agentforce for Nonprofits Grantmaking and Program Management, along with Experience Cloud, allowing external partners to apply for grants, submit budgets, and track progress through a self‑serve portal. Internally, staff can now review, score, award, and manage grants and payments in one system.
A second phase focused on enhancements, optimization, and ongoing support—ensuring the platform continues to evolve alongside SCF’s programs.
Self‑service with structure gives applicants the ability to submit applications and documentation directly, reducing manual effort while maintaining consistent data and process control. Clearer visibility means SCF now has a connected view of grants, programs, constituents, payments, and outcomes—enabling more informed decisions across teams.
Reporting that matters comes through robust reporting and analytics that support program oversight and impact measurement, giving staff confidence in both operational and strategic insights.
A future‑ready platform keeps SCF live on Agentforce for Nonprofits, with access to advanced platform capabilities and the flexibility to add new tools as its grantmaking strategy evolves.
