Business Development Representative
Overview
*This role can be performed remotely from anywhere in the United States or Canada*
The Business Development Representative (BDR) plays a critical role in expanding Heller Consulting’s reach across the nonprofit, healthcare, and education sectors. This role is responsible for managing and engaging marketing-generated leads, researching target accounts, and initiating meaningful outreach to generate qualified meetings for Account Executives. The BDR will also support proposal development, marketing initiatives, and conference participation to help drive awareness and interest in Heller’s services.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in business development, sales or fundraising
- Familiarity with the Nonprofit, Healthcare, and/or Education sectors preferred
- Experience with marketing automation tools and campaign development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable conducting initial qualification calls with prospective clients
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple lead sources
- Research skills to support account-based outreach and campaign targeting
- General understanding of CRM systems, especially Salesforce, is preferred
Job Responsibilities
Lead Management & Outreach
- Manage and prioritize lead lists from marketing sources, such as:
- Conference attendee lists
- Guide downloads
- Website visitors and inquiries
- Conduct research on target organizations to support personalized, account-based outreach
- Develop and execute outreach campaigns to engage leads and generate interest
- Conduct initial qualification calls to assess fit and readiness
- Schedule meetings between qualified prospects and Account Executives
- Maintain accurate records of outreach and lead status in CRM
Campaign Development & Marketing Collaboration
- Collaborate with Marketing to develop targeted content campaigns
- Provide feedback on campaign performance and lead quality
- Assist in the creation of marketing materials and proposal content
- Ensure messaging aligns with Heller’s brand and strategic goals
Conference Participation & Industry Engagement
- Attend industry conferences and events to support lead generation and brand visibility
- Represent Heller Consulting through networking and informal conversations
- Support post-conference follow-up and lead nurturing
Sales Support & Coordination
- Collaborate with Account Executives to ensure smooth handoff of qualified leads
- Provide input on proposal development and client communications
- Share insights from outreach efforts to inform sales strategy and messaging
